King Kong

Last night Xander and I went out with some friends to see King Kong. I thought it was a pretty good movie but some things didn’t make sense to me.

  • When she was first hung by the arms for King Kong to take her and he pulled her off, how did her arms not break. The scene was quick but when he pulled her off that thing and the way her arms moved, it looked like there was no way they could not be broken from it. Yet, there she was 20 minutes later.. juggling.
  • When he got to the cliffside just after he grabbed her and was waving his hand all over and looking around, how did he not manage to whack her head off a rock. So many times he came close but just didn’t. She didn’t even get whiplash from all that jerking around.
  • All those times he was flicking her when she was like 2 feet from the edge of the cliff, how did he not flick her off the edge. I know primates are smart but come on.. a big guy like that being able to judge the strength of his own flick. I don’t think so.
  • She was picked up, thrown around, fell down mountain sides, attacked by dinosaurs and manhandled by those crazy looking people.. and there wasn’t a single tear in her silk nightie. WHERE does she shop?! That’s quality!
  • How did King Kong get bitten by those smaller dinosaurs that we earlier saw tearing chunks out of the huge dinosaurs and not seem to be missing even the tiniest piece of flesh. I think I might have seen a little spot of blood on him once but after all that fighting and all those bites, he seemed particularly unscathed.

Other than that the only problem I had was when he was on the top of the Empire State Building. I have a serious phobia about falling off things. I’m not afraid of heights, just falling off things… and watching the whole end scene made me queezy.
