Do you remember The Commish? Short, fat, blading dude with a wife with huge black hair? He played a cop or something… looked a little something like this:

I’ve seen people talking about this show called The Shield that’s been running for a few years back home, so I decided to check it out. Knock … me … over… with… a… feather!!! Omg it’s The COMMISH!!!
Only, wait a sec… it’s like 15 years later, he looks 10 years younger,1/2 the size and 2x as hot. How’s that for math… He went from playing all around good guy and do gooder in The Commish, to playing this badass, crooked, skull bashing cop in The Shield. Talk about a comeback! I mean I know this show has been on for years but I’ve been in the dark over here in the Netherlands and had no idea this has happened.
I never thought I’d find myself feeling strangely attracted to the Commish, it just seems wrong somehow.
If you haven’t been following this show, it’s worth checking out. I like it! I’m only on season 2 though, and it may just be that I can’t stop gawking at “Vic” and thinking … “Holy shit, that’s the Commish…”
He looks like Kelsey Grammer crossed with Bruce Willis in the old picture!

I’ve seen interviews where he talked about putting on weight to take the Commish job. So Vic was always lurking underneath that pudgy exterior.
Wow, that’s some serious comittment to his acting then, to go from Vic to the Commish just for the job!

You nailed it. When I heard about a new show called The Shield and who was in it I started having flashbacks of watching The Commish with my Mom. Then, when I finally saw a poster for The Shield I darn near peed myself — it was the Commish.
Couple little sidenotes since I’m such a geek (you may know these already but it’s a condition I have):
- The Commish is short for the commissioner, the top cop in any given city
- Chiklis was also The Thing in the Fantastic Four movie that came out last year — and he’ll be reprising that role for the next film as well. (Wearing a 90-100lb makeup suit for 8-12 hours a day will do wonders for a guys figure)
I didn’t know he was in Fantastic Four until I googled him to get the photos for this post! It may sound funny but I can sort of see the resemblance between him and his character!
I’m on season four of The Shield at the moment, I’m so hooked! I already have all of season 5 downloaded and ready to go.
