Converted

As some might remember, one of the things Xander and I disagreed on was the topic of sleeping with earplugs. He thought it was great, I thought it was not-so great because someone could come in and kill me and he’d never hear it…. although, that could be the reason he wears them, who knows!

Anyhow, it’s true… I’ve been converted!

Along with mosquitos and sunburns, the summer also means hearing every sneeze, sigh and screw that takes place in our neighbours apartments… or in our parking lot. The sounds go out their windows and into ours, making it very hard for a light sleeper like me to get a full nights sleep. So on one desperate evening I caved and got Xander to give me a pair of his new earplugs so I could try to get some sleep.

I squished those suckers and stuffed them into my ears, trying to ignore that weird feeling that made me want to swallow as they touched something weird in there. Then sat and smiled as they expanded and the temporary deafness set in.

Silence

I’ve never slept so soundly in my life!

It seems kind of strange, this nightly ritual of kissing each other goodnight and then stuffing green blobs into our ears… but I can’t help it, I’m hooked.

  1. The snuggling up thing would be a good idea, except that my husband turns into a furnace when we get close like that. I can only cuddle with him before so long before I feel like my flesh is on fire and I gotta move away :P He says it’s because I’m so hot I get him all heated… I accept that answer.

  2. Snuggle up close so if someone breaks in and grabs you he’ll know. Enjoy your sleep!

  3. This is a very good idea. Will try using it too. Thanks for sharing it.

It’s Saturday and my photo is up already. Hope to see yours soon.

  4. I’m getting some too!!! So I don’t have to lay awake totally frustrated as a single non-dating woman listening to her next door neighbour giving his new girlfriend some (she’s kinda loud)…

  5. I’m quite the opposite. I don’t think I could wear earplugs. it could be many factors. i’m a city type boy, so I’m used to hearing sounds of cars, people, construction, etc. so I could sleep through a disaster and never know.

Often I can’t even fall asleep at all without some type of sound.

Glad you’re converted over though. a good nights sleep is always a good thing. :)

  6. lol.. but if they work, who cares?
I don’t think they’d suit me though, I wouldn’t be able to hear the mosquitos coming to attack me. If I can’t hear, then I can’t swat, and they’d think they were onto a good thing. Arghh!

  7. LOL whatever works I guess! Luckily I could sleep through the second coming without a problem, so this isn’t an issue for me.

  8. I’m an occasional earplug wearer myself. One of my neighbors has an annoying dog that likes to bark ALL NIGHT. ;-)

  9. I have terrible ears, and usually when I go to sleep they get all plugged up. So I can relate – it’s wonderful being able to go to sleep and hear nothing at all.

Oh, and congrats on the diet. It’s always nice to have someone notice a change, whether it’s your hair color, a new outfit, or weight loss. Well done!

  10. Hi there.. love the post, You can’t beat a good night sleep, perhaps that is why you could tolerate the music over at my pad today.. lol
Thought I’d pop in and return the favour..
    Cheers.
