Only Three Months Till Christmas!

Oh come on! You knew it was coming!  You should know me well enough by now.

After a rather expensive Christmas last year and a rough year financially, I’ve decided that this I am going to make this Christmas as much of a homemade Christmas as possible, which means busting my ass doing crafts and trying to figure out what I can make for all the people in my life.

Mystery Christmas Project

This is the mystery project I am working on at the moment, and I can safely say it’s the most difficult thing I’ve tried to knit yet.  It requires a lot more concentration than anything else I’ve made and I worry that it’s going to take up so much of my time that other projects won’t be completed.  I’m staying positive though and spending a lot of time at home with these knitting needles in hopes of getting it done as soon as possible so I can move on.

Only problem is, I keep making mistakes and having to slowly pick apart 1-2 rows to get back to a place where I know I was still doing it right. Oh the joys of knitting!  I prefer crocheting because it’s so much more forgiving and much easier to correct if you make a mistake, which I do fairly often.

I can’t believe that three months from today is Christmas day.  I can’t believe that one month from today I will be packing to come back to the Netherlands as my trip to Canada will be over.  Where is the time going?

I am pretty sure that people are going to think I fell off the face of the earth over the next few months, because I am going to be squirreled away in my house surrounded by knitting needles, crochet hooks, yarn and cross stitches.

Hopefully they will all forgive me on Christmas when they receive their gifts!

  1. I guess there will be no home made X-mas for me this year. In law-s are fond of hotels… It is so unpersonnal (and sister in law doesn’t like cooking – even boiling one egg!). This will be changing in 2011 for sure !

  2. I love home made Christmas gifts, your knitting looks very interesting.
You have time in the plane to knit when you travel.

Did you ever finished the blocks last year, the stitchery from Gail Pen?
I made it…my mom loved it (at least that is what she said ;-) )

  3. Good luck with your gift-making, I hope you get them all in time! What a great idea!
I like the colour you are usuing for your mystery project, by the way. I love knitting and at one time, I used to be quite good at it! I’ve somehow lost the touch now …

  4. Ugh.. December is going to be a hell month here. 3 birthdays, Dec. 5th, Christmas, New Years eve (which I hate!!!!). Isabella’s firsts! Except for New Years, but she was only 2 days old then :)

I love that yarn you are using, it looks soft and cuddly.

  5. Three months till Xmas? Crap. I’m one of these people who do not enjoy Xmas much… I know, I’m weird.

  6. I’m doing some homemade crochet gifts this year.
I’m just hoping I can do it all on time knowing how many mistakes I will probably make.

  7. I wish I had either the time or the ability to do the same…

  8. It’s always nice to get home made presents. The WTB has been doing some knitting recently as well and (she might kick me for saying this) had to pick it apart as well.

  9. I’m making dough ornaments this weekend :) I cant believe it’s only 3 months..Bring on the Christmas Markets!!!!!

  10. I did the homemade Christmas last year. I’d like to do it again, but don’t know what to make this time around! And I really only have to do it for three people. My dad is so hard to shop/craft for, though.
