Hey Moon, You Are ZUPAAAH!

Breigh March 19, 2011 10

Tonight is the night of the super full moon, where it comes the closest it has been to Earth in approximately 18 years. They say the moon is supposed to appear 14% bigger than usual but I’m not sure how you are supposed to really tell.

A while back I took photos of the moon for my 101 List, but I figured since this moon is supposed to be SUPER, I probably should again.

Super Full Moon

Was it actually super?  Well, I dunno… it just looked like the moon on a clear night to me, but what do I know?  It did seem to be shining especially bright over the neighbourhood.  I’m not sure if it seemed bigger but it did seem brighter.  That may be because it’s been a while since we had a full moon on such a clear evening.

I attempted to take some photos try to to make another HDR photo but it didn’t really work out.  I’m pleased with the moon photos I got, but it does make me want a better zoom lens.

Then again, there are lots of different things I take photos of that make me want all sorts of different lenses.  Perhaps I should plant some money trees rather than strawberries this spring.

Uhmm.. Tammy, heb jij die foto van de maan zelf gemaakt?!?
Sowieso vind ik die van de flat met de maan ook geweldig mooi. Ga even kijken of ik m kan downloaden ;-).

Thanks Wilma! I did take them both myself, from the front balcony :) I really hope to get a longer zoom lens one day so I can take REALLY nice photos of the moon (and other things!)

I’m about to do the same, just waiting for it to be a bit higher ;-)

I missed it..I’ve been waiting and waiting and I missed it..I can’t believe it. Your moon shot is just beautiful!

OH bugger! I was going to message you to tell you about it but then I thought Oh Sonya will be all over this anyway! I was sure you knew about it already. Tbh, it didn’t seem any bigger than any other full moon I’ve seen. Like it wasn’t taking up the whole sky or any such thing. It was just a full moon on a clear night, you can definitely get that again :)

Love it, Tammy! Our moon’s are in a different position too, so cool to see your view of it, mine is a little more “rolled over” ;)

It seemed bigger but I don’t know if I was just thinking that because I know it was supposed to be. Either way it did look amazing.

I couldn’t really tell if it looked bigger but it certainly looked bright against the clear sky. Beautiful!

I was driving home from Dawson City and the moon was insane!! It was reflecting off of the ice on the road so brightly that I didn’t even need my brights on and I kept thinking someone was coming around the corners at me (no one came for over 200km though). I had my big camera with me, but no tripod for getting photos. Plus it was dark and scary in the middle of nowhere by myself.
