A Sunday Ride

It took a while, thanks to a nasty flu and some nasty weather, but I’ve finally started getting out on my new bike!  Today Xander and I went on a lovely 18.8 km bike ride, what a way to spend a Sunday!

My new bike is fantastic and riding it highlighted just how crappy my old bike was.  I also was in slightly better shape so with that together with a more quality bike, the ride was a lot more enjoyable.

The best part?  I no longer had that feeling like I looked like an elephant on a tricycle like you see in the cartoons.  Xander took some photos of me on the bike because I was curious what I looked like on it (yes, these are the things you think about and worry about when you, or at least me, are a fat girl!).  I didn’t look like an elephant, at least not in my opinion, but I did look kinda stoned.  I wasn’t though, I swear.

A large part of the ride was through Zuiderpark, which I always find is a lovely area to bike.  It’s just nearby enough and just big enough to be able to spend a decent time biking around there.  Plus, the scenery is nice.

After about 12kms we realized that it was lunch time and we just weren’t ready to go home, but of course I had to eat as I’d already been out longer than expected and didn’t get my afternoon snack in.  I wasn’t hungry but I knew better than to skip lunch just because I was silly and didn’t pack one to bring with me.  We were near a restaurant that we know so we decided to bike to there and stop for a sandwich.

Tammy Lunch

Uh yeah so this photo of me, it’s kinda wonky because I butchered it in Photoshop.  I didn’t change anything about myself but Xander took the photo with the sun from the back and my entire face was black in the photo.  I’m no Photoshop whiz and in the process of trying to lighten it I made it… weird.  Pretty sure my face actually was pretty red, but it looks a lot more blotchy and yeah, WEIRD.  I wanted to include the photo regardless, because it was just such a great day and I felt so good right at that moment.

The sun was shining so we took advantage and sat outside on the terrace.  Mother Nature was kind to us and gave us great weather through our whole lunch and we were in heaven.

Tosti

When I posted this all on Facebook some people were curious about what I ate, since I posted that I was at a restaurant for lunch… well, this is it!  A half a ham and cheese tosti.  Normally I would ask for brown bread but I forgot completely. It wasn’t bad, like I wasn’t afraid it would affect me badly, just brown bread is better nutritionally.  I don’t eat a lot of bread but when I do, at times like this for convenience sake, I definitely prefer brown.

I cannot tell a lie, though… it was the first time I’ve had white bread in as long as I can remember, maybe even years, and it was delicious! haha  I forgot how much nicer it is toasted than brown bread.  I’ll have to re-forget because I won’t be making a habit of eating white bread (well, white anything really).

So that was my day today, it felt fantastic!  We both enjoy being out and being active together so much… we spent a lot of time chatting about plans for biking for the summer, and even looking for a cheap bike rack for the car second hand so that we can branch out a bit more!

So how did you spend your Sunday?!
