The minute I saw the photo hunt this week I knew what I would use…
I took this photo in the Red Light District in Amsterdam when I moved to the Netherlands back in 1999. As if it wasn’t shock enough being there, I was even more shocked when I saw this sign.
I’m still not sure if it was a place where people go to find out where the good whores are, or if it’s a place where the girls go themselves if they need info on something (like what genital herpes looks like). Either way, I was surprised when I saw the sign and had to snap a photo.
Coming from a place where prostitution is totally illegal and having probably only ever seen 1-2 prostitutes in my life, the entire experience was bizarre.
Amazing how it’s so not a big deal now, like ‘oh yeah, the Red Light District… whatever.. *Yawn*’.
LOL that’s pretty funny. Yeah, I’m guessing it’s a place where the prostitutes get information on where they get to go and any help they can get. I assume. :D

The funniest English language sign I’ve seen in NL is next to a stuffed mule at the Museum Naturalis in Leiden. It says, “You may stroke the donkey, but you may not mount it”.
Hilarious.
