First Attempt at Stamping

Project 365 (Day 69) Nails Newbie
After removing my acrylics and doing a rather messy manicure to cover it up, I went and got my hands on a proper file and buffer.  I was able to get a lot of the ridges off my nail beds which were totally shredded.  I then painted two coats of Maybelline New York Express Finish Nr. 870 (Blue Sapphire).

While I was out shopping for the file I saw the Essence Stampy Set and couldn’t resist picking it up.  This was the very first stamp I had ever done, and I was in love.  I have since bought most of the plates but am having trouble getting the stamp to pull up the paint from the full nail stamps.  Not sure why… I will keep trying.

  1. Yeah I'm absolutely positive I took it off. I tried a thin coat of paint, a thick coat, scraping hard, scraping soft, every single different method possible and always the same results. I put the paint on the plate, scrape off the excess and then when I press the stamp to the plate, nothing comes off.

I can even touch my finger to the plate and no paint comes off onto my finger. It's so bizarre!!

The smaller designs (like the one in this blog) work perfectly, but the full nail designs don't work for me AT ALL! I can't figure out why!

  2. I love the Essence stampy set.
Are you sure you pulled of the plastic foil from the image plates? It's not always very visible, but every new-bought plate has it. And if you don't get it off, stamping will be pretty much impossible. :)

  3. Thanks Paulina :)

  4. very nice!
