Sinful Colors Green Ocean: Review

After slowly working through my polishes from my big swap I finally tried Sinful Colors Green Ocean.  I  used a base layer of Essence Multi Dimension XXL Shine Fatal and one good coat of the Green Ocean over top.

My first impression?  “OoooOOoooOOoh!”.  Being me, I just love everything glitter, flakie, etc so it goes without saying that I just love the effect when watching it go on.  The color was exactly what it said it would be, it’s like a green ocean with deep blue when looking at it from the right angle.  It went on pretty well, it didn’t appear to clump too badly and the texture of the polish was thin enough to prevent it from feeling ‘goopy’ (sorry if I’m too technical for you haha).  So the application was good.

The only drawbacks I could think of were…

  • For some reason, and I don’t know if this was just my bottle that was a bit of a fluke, but there were some really big flakies in the bottle that kept causing sticky outie bits.  It was almost as though there were some pieces that hadn’t been cut properly.  You can see one on my ring finger in the above photo, which is one of the more medium sized chunks.  Even with two thick coats of Seche Vite on top, I still had the odd rough spot where a piece of the flakie was sticking through and that really made me twitch.

  • I felt like I’d seen it before.  Then I realized that sort of looks like Nfu Oh 40 (seen in the above photo)!  From memory, and my photos, I think the Green Ocean is a bit brighter but I was using different technique for my photos then, and also wasn’t using the Seche Vite.  So I think a comparison is in my future.
  • Like any glitter or flakie, it was a PITA to remove.

The thing is, I absolutely LOVED the Nfu Oh 40 so it makes sense to say that I love this as well.  I guess we’ll have to wait and see which I actually like better when I sit down and do a proper comparison of the two!
