Pastel Pink Reverse French

Since I started messing around with my nails I’ve seen a lot of people doing the reverse french method, which is basically putting a semi circle at the base of the nail rather than putting the color across the tip.  There are a number of methods for doing this, the most popular using paper hole stickers like in this tutorial from Cherry Blossoms Girl.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get couldn’t be arsed to look for those, so I used what I had on hand, which was these:

Essence French Manicure Tip Guides, Konad Pastel Pink and Essence 50’s Girls Reloaded AHOY!

The Essence french tip guides don’t have quite the same curve as the paper hole stickers so you don’t get that semi circle effect that you would with them, but they are curved enough so that it doesn’t look stupid like just a straight line.

Well, ok maybe a bit of a straight line, but the concept is still the same. I had really only meant to paint the pink because I wanted to test it out.  I got it as a freebie with an order from Enchantra and wanted to see what it looked like.  It was also a nice calm looking change after that seriously busy Gumball mani.

When I had the pink on there the thought struck me to give this a go, just to see what it would look like. I sort of wish now that I’d turned the strip upside down and gone for a ruffian look like this.  I will save that for next time though.

For now, even though it’s not perfect, I’m really loving this mani.  I’ve had it for a few days now and it’s holding up quite well!  It’s also giving me just the break I’d been looking for from the dark, glittery, crazy colored manis of late!
