365 Days of Self Portraits: Days 36 – 42

SONY DSC

In an effort to gain self confidence and deal with body image issues still remaining after my weight loss, I decided to take part in a 365 project focusing on self portraits.  My hopes are that after a year of taking a photo of myself ever day, that I will stop hating photos of myself, stop picking apart the things I hate about my body and learn to accept myself in a way that I haven’t been able to before.  It is uncomfortable, challenging and at times scary as I am also putting myself out there in a way I ... 365 Days of Self Portraits: Days 1-14

2

Ages ago I decided to try a 365 Days project where you take a photo a day for 365 days, and it didn’t last long.  Then in 2011 I tried it again and lasted over 100 days.  I’ve decided to try it again this year, but with a twist!  I may be insane but I’ve decided to try doing 365 Days of self portraits! At first I was going to just try the ‘any old thing’ type of Project 365 but then after discussing the concept of doing self portraits with a few friends, one of them came up with ... Read More »

I Heart Instagram

instagram.jpg

If you aren’t aware already, Instagram has recently become available for Android!  I love it! It’s weird though, because when it was only for iphone users and I’d see people uploading Instagram photos I’d be like “Meh, I don’t see what the appeal is with this, the photos look weird and why not just use their normal mobile camera??”.  I think it was just that I didn’t quite get how it worked, I didn’t realize that it was an entirely separate social network of its own, rather than just some program to make your pics look vintage or something. So, ... Read More »

Het Dak van Rotterdam

dak1.jpg

Today someone in one of my photo clubs shared something on Facebook and I thought it was SO cool!  It’s a website that has taken a collection of panoramic and 360 degree photos taken from all different rooftops around the city.  They have put it together so that you can tour Rotterdam from above via these photos. (The following photos are screenshots from the website, not photos I have taken – I wish!) Basically, you just click on the circle to see the view from the rooftop of that building. You can use your mouse to pull the view from ... Read More »

Holiday Destination Review: Pic du Midi

SONY DSC

One of the main reasons we chose the Pyrenees as our little side trip while in the south of France was because I’d seen the Pic du Midi online.  Once I saw it, I knew that’s where I wanted to go, and thankfully Xander wasn’t at all bothered and was happy to let me choose the location.  We specifically chose our campground because it was within a reasonable distance. We actually visited the area twice, but the first day it was too cloudy and they said we wouldn’t be able to see anything, so we moved on and visited some ... Read More »

Where’s That Damn Waterfall?!

SONY DSC

I mentioned in my post about our visit to Lac d’Estaing that Xander and I had a bit of an adventure looking for some waterfalls.  Now that some time has passed I can see it for the funny thing that it is and can tell the story with much less swearing. While we were at the lake, we stopped to get an ice cream and I saw this postcard… They look pretty nice, right?  I really wanted to find out where the waterfalls were so I could get some photos.  I asked the guy who worked in the shop where ... Lac d’Estaing

SONY DSC

The second day that we were in the Pyrenees we went to the end of the Estaing valley to check out the lake. Apparently it’s a pretty popular area for hikers and it was not far from our campground so we thought we’d start the day off there.  It was breathtaking! I so wanted to go on a trail ride as it’s been years since I’ve been on horseback, which used to be pretty much my entire life when I was in Canada.  Xander didn’t want to though, and I didn’t want to go by myself, so it didn’t happen. ... Finley & Lally

SONY DSC

I’m still working on my photos from the south of France, the sheer number of them intimidates me and makes me put it off.  My own fault, of course, but I will get there eventually. It’s no secret that I love taking photos of animals, and also that one of my favorite parts of visiting my in-laws is their dogs.  I have such a soft spot for these animals… not just because they are beautiful but because they are so incredibly well trained.  It makes me want to ship Bailey and Pixel off to the south of France for boot ...
