42 Days

That’s how long until the first day of Autumn.  It sounds like a long time but it’s not really, and we’ve not even had a summer yet (we didn’t last year either).   I want to go back to France, where it was warm and dry.   Barring my horrid sunburn, I loved it there… and I [...]

Chateau de Castelbouc

Before we left for the South of France a colleague loaned me a book titled 501 Must-Visit Destinations. One of the things that jumped out at me was Chateau de Castelbouc in the Gorge du Tarn. This is what lead us to stay there for the last few days of our holiday. [...]

More From France – Gorge du Tarn Boat Ride

Things have been a little ‘bleh’ here lately, I’m sick with yet ANOTHER cold (yeah, my third since October, wtf?!) and am stressed out and frazzled about a multitude of things. Thankfully I have like, the best husband in the world, so I know it’ll all be ok.
So instead of getting into all [...]

The Fog

We passed this village every day on our way to and from our hotel.  I have no idea what it was called but I thought it was so beautiful nestled up there on the hillside.   There are so many villages like this in the Gorge du Tarn and it would take a lot longer than [...]

Saturday Photohunt – Candy

This is a candy shop in the town of Pezenas in France, which is the village we stayed in while visiting my mother in law a few weeks ago. The shop was huge and full of tons of different kinds of candy. I didn’t go in any longer than what it took for me to [...]

Navacelles

One of the coolest places to see in France (in my opinion) is Cirque de Navacelles, described by wikipedia:
The Cirque de Navacelles is large cirque landform, located towards the southern edge of the Massif Central mountain range in France. It is located near Saint-Maurice-Navacelles and Blandas between the Hérault département and the Gard département.
After the [...]

Cantobre

The village of Cantobre was an unexpected find on our journey with Xander’s mother last week.   As we were driving along I saw something up on a hill and as we turned the bend, this is what we found.

The entire village of about 30 houses was perched up on top of these cliffs.  It was [...]

Home Hairy Home

Yesterday (my birthday!) we decided to come home.  We’d been in France for over a week and were both feeling like we were getting a little tired of sight seeing.   It was time to pack up and head home so that we could be home in time to have a nice long weekend to chill [...]

Road Randoms

It’s hard to believe it’s been a week since we arrived in France.   Since we got here it’s been nonstop and I have literally hundreds of photos to sort through.   This will probably happen when we arrive home finally, because I’ve not found the time since I’ve been here, barring the odd quickie, like this [...]

The Burn of Sete

On Sunday Xander and I left Bailey with Xander’s mother and took off to the town of Sete for the day. It’s a beautiful town right on the Mediterranean, which I never did swim in by the way.

That didn’t stop me from getting my yearly ‘first sun sunburn’ though.  Not only did I get one, [...]

Oh My Legs!

My legs are so sore, if nothing else France is teaching me how desperately out of shape I am.  Especially mom-in-law’s stairs in her five-level house!

It’s beautiful indeed, but my chubby little legs cried for mercy when I stood at the bottom and realised that our bedroom was on the top floor.

It’s worth the climb [...]

Exploring

Yesterday myself, Hubby, Mom-in-Law, and Dog went exploring!

We followed the above route and saw a TON of stuff.   Some were planned, others were just lucky finds.  Some were so awesome I’m not going to talk about them now because they totally deserve to have more time spent on them.
The first place we stopped was no [...]

The View

This is what I see from the sofa in my mother in law’s living room.   She lives in what must be one of the most beautiful villages in all of Frace and every time I look out the window I get this ‘OMG I am in France!’ feeling.  It’s really cool.
Notice the Siamese cat in [...]

We Made It!

This is going to be a short one because I’m busy being on holiday!  We made it to France safe and sound.  It was a long drive but it was a nice one with a lot of nice scenery.
The weather was beautiful today and we walked around the city centre of Pezenas, the town we [...]

France Here We Come!

Well we leave tomorrow morning and almost everything is ready.  Our clothes are packed, the animal care has all been sorted out (thanks to our wonderful neighbours who petsit for us when we are away) and we’ve stocked up on corny Top songs of the 60’s type roadtrip cd’s.
We hope to get to somewhere around [...]

ROAD TRIP!

On April 30, 2008 my hubby and I are taking off on our first ever European Road Trip!  Well, the first one with just the two of us.  No wait, three!  Bailey is coming too!  We will be gone for about 10 days and I will be celebrating my 33rd (GROAN) birthday somewhere along the [...]
