365 Days of Self Portraits: Day 29-35

SONY DSC

In an effort to gain self confidence and deal with body image issues still remaining after my weight loss, I decided to take part in a 365 project focusing on self portraits.  My hopes are that after a year of taking a photo of myself ever day, that I will stop hating photos of myself, stop picking apart the things I hate about my body and learn to accept myself in a way that I haven’t been able to before.  It is uncomfortable, challenging and at times scary as I am also putting myself out there in a way I ... 365 Days of Self Portraits: Days 1-14

2

Ages ago I decided to try a 365 Days project where you take a photo a day for 365 days, and it didn’t last long.  Then in 2011 I tried it again and lasted over 100 days.  I’ve decided to try it again this year, but with a twist!  I may be insane but I’ve decided to try doing 365 Days of self portraits! At first I was going to just try the ‘any old thing’ type of Project 365 but then after discussing the concept of doing self portraits with a few friends, one of them came up with ... Read More »

Stop The Presses! I Am Printing a Retraction!

ggfeat

Have you ever read my About Me page? If you have you’ve probably seen this… Ummm, yeah.  This is a lie.  Well, it wasn’t a lie when I first wrote it now but I can’t leave it on there without feeling like I’m telling a fib. A while back I wrote a post about how I felt that my being overweight affected my feeling of femininity, which was quite difficult for me to write because not only was it slightly embarrassing but it required a little bit of soul searching as well.  I always knew I didn’t feel feminine but ... 30 Days of Truth: Day 10

30daysfeat10

Shit, this one is tough.  Who’s idea was it for me to do this stupid thing anyway?! haha I think we all have people we get to know who we find out we don’t really jive with, and I could write about someone like that but I don’t think it’s possible to write a post about them here without somehow hurting their feelings and I don’t want to do that.  So I’m going to take it in another direction. The person I need to let go of and wish I didn’t know is me.  No, stay with me here…  I ... Read More »

A while back I saw a post on Avitable's blog titled 30 Days of Truth. It's thought provoking and makes you think about yourself and your life, so I'm going to give it a go! Read More »

2010’s New Years Wishes Revisited!

wishes.jpg

Last year I wrote a post about my New Years Wishes, not resolutions because well, I never keep those.  They are wishes because they are things I really want to happen but am aware that I may not quite get there. Hey, a least I’m realistic, right? Now I’m looking back to see what I have achieved and what still needs work. Last year my New Years wishes were (Summary, you can see the linked post for the full story): I want to continue on with Weight Watchers, pushing past this frustrating first plateau. UPDATE: Umm, yes and no. I ... Read More »

My Spicy Little Life

multicultural.jpg

You know how they say variety is the spice of life?  Well, yesterday I had a moment where I just sat and thought about how lucky I am to be where I am, with the people I’m with, doing the things I do. So often I feel like my life is a complete bore compared to other people I know.  Due to the circumstances of the timing of my move and the intense reaction I had, building a career didn’t really happen.  I planned on being a stay at home mom, but then the mom thing didn’t happen which triggered ... The Early Bird Gets The… Theater!

satcgirlsmay2010.jpg

Today me (middle), Penny (right) and Laila (left) got up bright and early and went into the city center to see the new Sex and The City movie.  We chose to go early on a Saturday so that they could arrange child care and we’d have time for lunch and shopping afterward.  I won’t get into too much about the movie, it was pretty much what you expect from Sex and the City.  Perhaps it was a little more silly and less emotionally driven than the first one but a very good laugh.  It got two out of three thumbs ...
