Let it Snow!

snow27dec2014.jpg

We got snow this morning in the Netherlands. So close to Christmas, but it just missed the mark.  I think not having snow is one of the things that makes it more difficult to get into the Christmas spirit over here.  Well, that together with not having friends and family around. It was so nice to wake up and see this snow this morning, though!   The great thing about when it snows here is that it last just long enough for you to go “aawww it’s SNOWING!!” and spend a day outside listening to it crunching under your boots and ... 365 Days of Self Portraits: Days 100-106

Ereading

In an effort to gain self confidence and deal with body image issues still remaining after my weight loss, I decided to take part in a 365 project focusing on self portraits.  My hopes are that after a year of taking a photo of myself ever day, that I will stop hating photos of myself, stop picking apart the things I hate about my body and learn to accept myself in a way that I haven’t been able to before.  It is uncomfortable, challenging and at times scary as I am also putting myself out there in a way I ... Project Fatass: The Trouble With Jeans

jeanprobfeat

When people ask me what my biggest problems are after my gastric bypass I think they are expecting me to say that I’m sick, that I can’t eat the things I love or that I have some freakish pain… but that’s not it, I have none of those problems.  Right now my biggest problems are hair loss (I knew this was coming) and LACK OF CLOTHES.  I honestly had no idea how much quicker the weight loss would show in my clothes than it does on the scale.  I feel like I should still fit into things that I wore ... Stop The Presses! I Am Printing a Retraction!

ggfeat

Have you ever read my About Me page? If you have you’ve probably seen this… Ummm, yeah.  This is a lie.  Well, it wasn’t a lie when I first wrote it now but I can’t leave it on there without feeling like I’m telling a fib. A while back I wrote a post about how I felt that my being overweight affected my feeling of femininity, which was quite difficult for me to write because not only was it slightly embarrassing but it required a little bit of soul searching as well.  I always knew I didn’t feel feminine but ... Rainy Day in ‘s-Hertogenbosch

denboschfeat

Well, as promised after the Divas Day Out in Den Bosch I finally got around to working on the photos.  I am glad I didn’t bring my good camera, but they didn’t turn out too bad with the point and shoot. There was shopping. Lots and lots of shopping… It started at LUSH where Paule and Penny were quite keen to visit.  I spent the entire time poking at and playing with the Shower Jellies, weirdest things ever.  I thought it was all a bit expensive for what you get.  I’m not yet convinced. There was also more jewelry shopping, ... Read More »

The Early Bird Gets The… Theater!

satcgirlsmay2010.jpg

Today me (middle), Penny (right) and Laila (left) got up bright and early and went into the city center to see the new Sex and The City movie.  We chose to go early on a Saturday so that they could arrange child care and we’d have time for lunch and shopping afterward.  I won’t get into too much about the movie, it was pretty much what you expect from Sex and the City.  Perhaps it was a little more silly and less emotionally driven than the first one but a very good laugh.  It got two out of three thumbs ... Two Great Finds In One Day

nieuwpoortfeat

After finishing my baby bobble blanket I felt a little lost.  I had gotten so used to plunking down in my chair and picking up the blanket to work on that when it was finished and I had nothing to do, I got grumpy.  I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to work on next and although I had a few unfinished projects that I could have picked back up, what I really wanted to do was continue crocheting.  With what though…?  All I had left were a few bits of leftover yarn from the blankets I’d made. I started ... Read More »

Christmas in the Netherlands

xmastreesmall

It’s now only 29 (oops – Typo!) 69 days until Christmas and as my latest shopping excursions have shown, the Dutchies have their Christmas items out on the shelves already! So far we’ve found Christmas items for sale at Blokker and Xenos, and our local Intratuin is currently about 50% through setting up their winter wonderland!  I know this would annoy the crap out of some people, but for Christmas freaks like myself, it just makes me squeal with glee! My mother is also loving it, she thought she was going back with one empty suitcase after lugging over all ... Read More »

Coldplay and a Rabbit, please!

I just had this conversation with my husband on MSN: Blasphemer says: check this out: Click Here Breigh says: haha omg Breigh says: you can buy vibrators at the free record shop? Blasphemer says: Yeah and Etos, so you can take something home for when you have a headache and for days that you don’t , hahaha Breigh says: HAHAHAHA The article states that two shops in NL have decided to start carrying erotic toys such as dildos and vibrators etc. One is Etos, which is sort of like Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada (dunno what to compare it to ... Autumn is Here!

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since my last I LoveThe Fall photos and posts. This is one of my favorite times of year for so many different reasons. I always get the feeling like I should be out buying pencils and getting in as many bike rides as I can before the snow. I love going out and feeling the chill in the air, going into a shop and seeing the first x-mas decorations and buying new scarves and mittens. Some may think mittens are for kids but anyone who grew up in a cold country knows ... Read More »

Summer is here!

Today it was a whopping 27 degrees here in Rotterdam, and we don’t have our screens on the windows yet. Whew, it’s warm in here! We can’t open the windows wide because of the animals. I’d hate for one of my little fluffies to end up taking a three story drop. I’ll have to make a point to paint the window frames this week so we can get the new screens on. This afternoon we went into the city center to buy my birthday present. My birthday isn’t until next Sunday but it’s not uncommon for us to do the ... Read More »
