The Veggie Files – We Have Lettuce!

Cucumber & Lettuce

As I mentioned in my last Veggie Files update, patience is not something I have a large supply of.  I got really tired of waiting for lettuce to show up in my lettuce pot, so I stuck a few seeds a bit more shallow in the pot with my cucumber, and whattya know!  A few days later, I have lettuce sprouts!

Veggie Sprouts

Good thing I did that too because there’s still not a damn thing to be found in my lettuce pot.  I think it’s because there’s no holes in the bottom so the excess water can’t run off. That’s my guess anyway, since it’s the only big difference from the other pots.  I’m going to chuck the soil back in the bag and use it for something else, because it clearly isn’t working with the lettuce in that pot.

Dwarf Beans

My beans are still growing like weeds, I’m pretty sure they may need to be replanted soon, I have about 7 plants in that one pot.  I have no idea when I am supposed to know when to replant them, I assume it’s when they look sturdy enough for moving.

I believe I also need to put some sort of sticks in the pot to help the plants stay up.  Do you just tie them to the sticks or do they wind themselves up around them?  I suppose I should Google this stuff soon if I want to keep these suckers alive.

Our own small pots of herbs and vegetables are growing well as well. Still no sign of the olive plants growing though. I think I might have put them in too deep.

I think that’s part of why my first lettuce ones didn’t come up too :/

haha yeah up to a certain amount you can grow it. I don’t smoke it through so there’s not much point. Plus, you can buy it everywhere, so why bother?
Although I guess you could say you can buy lettuce and beans everywhere too but I’m growing them. If someone ever sends me marijuana seeds I promise to plant them!

    Nice!

I haven’t planted anything yet this year (I usually have a couple of red and yellow peppers, plus herbs). Spring came super early and I didn’t dare to believe it – I didn’t want to see my little green patch all snowy one day. And it may be a bit too late now…
