New Camera!

Back in January I was itching to get a new camera, but I couldn’t decide what kind I wanted.   I decided at the time to hold off until I knew for sure, as it’s something that I’d be using for a few years.   So for the last 10 months I’ve been looking at reviews and narrowing it down to what I wanted and what we could afford.

I ended up going with the Casio Exilim EX-1080 which is one of the newest upgrades for my old camera, the Exilim EX-Z40.   I loved that camera and used it a LOT over the last four years so I went with what I knew.   The new one has a lot more features for me to learn and is a big jump from 4-10 MP.   I’ve played around with it some since I got it and want to get comfortable with it before we go to Canada, because I’m going to take soooo many photos when I’m there.   Cape Breton in the fall, you don’t get many better photo opportunities than that!

Here are a few pics I took with it today… Remember, I’m not exactly a professional.  Ok, not a professional at all, but damn I’m loving taking photos with this new cam!

Xander thinks he looks stoned in his photo but I still like it.   He’s worse than a woman for not liking himself in photos.  Although I shouldn’t talk, I don’t have any of me on the new cam yet and when I do I’ll probably like two out of every 50 photos I take.

  1. Breigh,

    Like the theme…Very Cool.

Photography is one of my hobbies. I’ve been taking pictures with a Canon 40D Digital SLR. I have 5 different lenses for it too. I ran into a dilemma while traveling…You guessed it. The camera and lenses are way too heavy. So I decided to get a compact camera. I read alot of reviews and I finally ended up with the Canon G9. My main reason was because I can take pictures in the RAW format which gives you greater flexibility in Photoshop. The Canon G9 is a 12.2 megapixel camera, has great features and alot of manual adjustments can be made. I love it. The only issue I have is that a DSLR will always take better pictures than a point and shoot. Other than that it’s a great camera.

Love your picture of the falling leaf.
