Merry Christmas!

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is over already!  I spent ages counting the days until it got here, and now it’s passed.   Isn’t that always the way?

It was sort of weird on Christmas Eve because it didn’t really seem like Christmas at all.   We ordered some Chinese food and I spent a while making these rat hammocks for our friends Penny and Yuri, who also have two rats as pets and love them to death.

Rat Playthings

It took me a while to make the cube because I’d never done it before but now that I know how I’m totally going to make some more for my girls.

Hanging OutI made them the cube, one play tunnel, 2 square hammocks, a sleepy sack for hanging on the side of the cage and one double decker hammock like this pink and polka dotted one I made a while back for Molly and Cleo.

I think I’m going to try to make some more of these things to sell.

I gave Penny and Yuri their gift when they were here yesterday.   We invited them over for x-mas dinner and they brought a tray full of baked goods that Penny has been making, AND a cheesecake.  Oh lord the woman is trying to kill me!  Not that I’m complaining through, I swear she makes the best chocolate chip cookies on  the planet.

Christmas With Friends

I was kind of nervous because I’ve never cooked a big meal like this for company before, but I really liked it.   I think I’m going to do a big Christmas dinner again next year but I’m going to get some fancy dishes and a centerpiece and all that jazz.    I got loads of compliments on the food, which was a good boost for my kitchen ego.   I’m not that confident with my cooking skills but I figure the more I invite people over the more used to it I’ll get.

Did you notice Xander is wearing his pajamas?  When our company arrived he was wearing shorts and a pajama top and he wouldn’t change! haha  He’s been home with me since we got back from Canada and has been living in his pajamas.  He’s so funny… it’s going to be so weird for me when he goes back to work in the new year.

Speaking of new years, we don’t really have any plans.  We’ll probably just have a nice dinner and wait around for the fireworks.   I have my new camera and Gorillapod (coolest thing ever!) I’m going to be set!  If I don’t get some decent fireworks photos this year I’ll be highly disappointed.

  1. It is always a good day when I learn something new, and today I learned what a rat hammock was!

  2. Those hammocks are adorable. What did you make for the meal?

  3. Very cool hammocks, cubes and sleepsack. Your hub looks super-relaxed in his pyjamas. Hey, if you like you could come and celebrate New Year with us. Husband has invited geek friends and they intend to spend an evening with guitar hero III, while I create a lot of food :)
